Become an Attorney Mentor

We appreciate your interest in mentoring and guiding new attorneys in New Mexico. Mentors play an essential role in supporting the professional growth of new attorneys, and we're always looking for volunteers.

Mentor Qualifications

To become a mentor, please ensure you meet these criteria:

  • Active and in good standing with the State Bar of New Mexico.
  • At least 5 years of legal practice experience, including a minimum of 3 years practicing in New Mexico.
  • Current malpractice insurance coverage or employment with a public agency.
  • No public disciplinary actions within the past 7 years.

Approval Process

After submission, your application will be reviewed and forwarded to the New Mexico Supreme Court for final approval. Approved mentors will receive an official order confirming their status. Please note, the approval process may take several months. We greatly appreciate your patience and your commitment to supporting the legal community in New Mexico.
